PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – The fall semester exams are complete and now, it’s time for the UNCW women’s basketball team to turn its focus to the hardwood as the Seahawks visit the Steel City on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. non-conference clash against Pitt’s Panthers.
Tuesday’s game can be seen online via ACC Network Extra while live stats will be available at UNCWStats.com.
Both teams are coming off a lengthy break to complete the fall semester exams. UNCW, which carries a 5-3 record into Tuesday’s tilt, has been idle since dropping an 82-55 verdict at North Carolina on Dec. 5. Pitt, meanwhile, is 6-5 on the year after losing against West Virginia 10 days ago.
Tuesday’s Starting Five
Series Business – Pitt and UNCW have split the two previous meetings after the Panthers surged over the Seahawks for a 74-55 victory last year inside the Petersen Events Center.
History Lesson – Senior forward Chinyere Bell made her UNCW debut in last year’s contest against Pitt, scoring 15 points off the bench in 20 minutes.
Back in the Saddle, Again – Sophomore Carol-Anne Obusek is expected to make her UNCW debut on Tuesday night against Pitt. Obusek, a transfer from High Point, has not played in an official game in 659 days after joining the Seahawks for the second semester last year.
Two of a Kind – Redshirt senior guard Shrita Parker and redshirt junior guard GiGi Smith have each scored in double figures in all eight of the Seahawks’ games this year.
Night Hawks – The Seahawks have split their previous two night games this season, defeating Belmont Abbey on Nov. 6 before falling at VCU on Nov. 28.
