RICHMOND, Virginia – UNCW junior guard Lacey Suggs has been named as an honorable mention selection on the 2018-19 Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Team in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
In addition, the Seahawks were picked to finish seventh in the league’s Predicted Order of Finish, which was released as part of the conference’s annual Digital Media Day activities.
Suggs, a product of White Lake, N.C., enjoyed a breakout season last year for Coach Karen Barefoot’s Seahawks. The Second-Team All-State performer ranked 14th in the CAA by averaging 11.8 points per game and reached double figures in 21-of-31 contests, including a team-high five games with 20 or more points.
Suggs led the Seahawks to a win over VCU on Nov. 29 by scoring a career-high 24 points before posting a 21-point effort at Towson on Jan. 12. She also added 20-point efforts against Catawba, Furman and East Carolina.
James Madison, which has won three of the last five CAA crowns, was picked as the preseason favorite to win the league title while Drexel followed in second place in the predictions.
