Following is the new schedule for trash/recycling/yard waste and bulky item pick up for City of Wilmington trash customers following the winter storm. The city regrets any confusion and appreciates cooperation from our customers as we respond to delays caused by this unusual winter storm.
- Thursday and Monday pick-up customers: Trash and recycling will be picked up Monday.
- Friday and Tuesday pick-up customers: Trash and recycling will be picked up Tuesday.
- Yard waste and bulky item pick-up for Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday customers: will be picked up Wednesday. Bulky items such as couches and refrigerators are picked at no charge for city customers by appointment only – just call 341-7875 to make an appointment.
- Central Business District pick-up customers: Late start on Saturday and regular service on Sunday for CBD only.
The city hopes to be caught up and resume a regular schedule on Thursday, Jan. 11. At this time, extra trash that does not fit in the cart will be picked up at no charge. Just leave the extra bags beside the cart.
The city always picks up excess recycling at no additional charge for city trash and recycling customers. Simply place in a box, paper bag or a separate bin and crews will pick it up with your normal recycling.
A reminder to citizens about holiday debris: cardboard boxes, tissue paper and most gift wrapping paper can be recycled. Foil paper and Styrofoam can’t be recycled, but plastic packaging and shopping bags can be taken to the grocery store along with grocery bags for recycling. Live Christmas trees will also be picked as yard waste for city customers at no extra charge.
