The Wilmington City Council will meet beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 16. Items of interest on the agenda will include:
A resolution to purchase seven new police cars for $146,952. This is part of a 28-car purchase agreement with Ilderton Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of High Point, NC that will replace aging police vehicles. The remaining 21 vehicles are expected to be purchased in May. The city replaces police vehicles after six years and when they have at least 100,000 miles on them. The vehicles that are being replaced will be donated to a local nonprofit or will be auctioned on GovDeals.
A resolution supporting NC House Bill 431, known as the Fiber NC Act. The bill would encourage public-private partnerships to provide high speed, reliable broadband access, a top public policy concern across the state.
