In November, crews began repaving McRae Street from Rankin Street to Nixon Street. Crews will then repave Nixon Street from 4th Street to McRae Street.
While work is underway there will be some intermittent lane closures, however two-way traffic is expected to be maintained at all times with a flagging crew. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Residents are asked not to park on the roadway during construction. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
This project is part of the city’s five-year plan to make repairs to streets and other public facilities. Five cents on the city’s tax rate have been set aside to fund the plan and cannot be used for anything else. According to the 2017 Citizen Survey, maintenance and infrastructure needs are a top priority for city residents.
