APPROVED. An ordinance and resolution to ban the box in support of fair hiring practices. If approved, the city would no longer ask job applicants about their criminal history or conduct a criminal background check until after a decision has been made to make a conditional offer of employment. If approved, this will ensure that the hiring practices of the City do not discourage people with criminal records from appropriate employment with the City of Wilmington.
APPROVED. A resolution to officially recognize the unfortunate events of gun violence in the country and the tragic recent incident in Parkland, Florida and demonstrate the willingness of the Wilmington City Council to be empathetic to the sharing of concerns by our youth in this regard.
