City of Wilmington offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
There will not be any trash service on New Year’s Day. Mondaytrash customers should place their items curbside by 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 3) instead. City recycling customers who are on the BLUE schedule and normally have their recycling collected on Mondays should place their recycling containers curbside on Wednesday as well.
Most holiday debris such as cardboard is recyclable and can be put in the large blue recycling carts for pick-up. Excess recycling that won’t fit in the blue carts can be put at the curb in a box, bin or paper bag and it will be picked up at no charge. Please break down and flatten cardboard boxes. Foil wrapping paper is NOT recyclable, but all other wrapping paper may be recycled.
The 2018 recycling calendar is now available to find out which week to recycle:
If you are a city trash customer, the city will recycle your Christmas tree. Simply remove all decorations and lights from the tree and put it curbside with any other vegetative debris on your normal service day.
Please be sure not to place the tree near any storm drains and be sure it does not block access to any mailboxes or sidewalks.
