UNCW’s annual celebration to kick off the start of basketball season, has been canceled due to schedule adjustments caused by Hurricane Florence.
The event was originally slated for Friday, Oct. 26, 2018. It is expected to return in 2019-20.
The Men’s Basketball Tipoff Banquet, featuring former UNCW head coach and current Clemson skipper Brad Brownell, has been rescheduled for Oct. 26, 2018, at the Burney Center on campus.
The Seahawks will play the Tigers in a benefit game the next day, Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, for Hurricane Florence relief. Tickets are $20 each and go on sale Oct. 15 by visiting UNCWsports.com or the UNCW Athletic Ticket Office in Trask Coliseum. The first 1,000 UNCW students will be admitted free with a valid One Card and ticket pick-up will begin on Oct. 22 at noon.
The men’s team then plays an exhibition game vs. William Peace University on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. before opening the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Campbell.
The women battle Catawba in an exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 27, at noon in preparation for the season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 6 vs. Belmont Abbey at Trask Coliseum.
