29th Annual River to Sea Bike Ride
Saturday, May 5 | 7 a.m.
The River to Sea bike ride is a casual-paced, 20-mile round trip bike ride from downtown Wilmington to Wrightsville Beach and back along Wilmington’s River to Sea Bike Route. The ride kicks off at 7 a.m. from 12 N. Front Street. Check-in/registration begins at 6 a.m. Last year approximately 400 cyclists participated.
The event is free but helmets are required. Police support will be provided throughout the entire ride. Wave Transit will offer very limited transportation downtown for those unable to make the return trip, but riders are asked to plan for a back-up means of transportation or bike the return trip downtown.
National Bike to Work Week
Members of the community are encouraged to ride their bike to work at least once this week. Each year, the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization (WMPO) tracks the number of people participating in Bike to Work Week.
Bike to Work Week Registration
This data will help the WMPO secure funding for the event in the future, apply for Bicycle Friendly Community and Business designation and show community support for bicycle projects.
After Bike to Work Week is over, participants will receive a survey to enter their information, followed by an email indicating the total number of people who biked to work and companies/organizations with employees participating.
