The Sports /Entertainment Marketing II Class at Laney High School has created Slam Jam, a service learning event for school violence prevention. Slam Jam is a student vs. faculty basketball game and the goal is to prevent school violence by creating unity and belonging in school.
The week will include various school events leading up to the big game:
Friday, May 4 – “Peace, Love, Happiness”- Students will be wearing tie-dye representing peace, love and happiness around school.
Monday, May 7 – “Match Monday”- Students will match each other with their clothing showing unity among students.
Tuesday, May 8 – ” Talk it out Tuesday”- A video will be shown on this date about school violence which teachers can talk about it with their students.
Wednesday, May 9 – “Orange you glad to meet me”- Students will wear orange since orange is for gun violence and school bullying prevention.
Thursday, May 10 – “Laney Color Day, SlamJam Expo, and Faculty Vs. Student Basketball Game” -Students will wear Laney’s colors to show school unity with the Expo happening during 4th block. The Slam Jam Basketball Game will be after school at 4:00 p.m., with the Evolution of Dance halftime show will be performed with the Laney Dance Team.

3 Legged Race, Cornhole with Nice Words, One team/ One family photo booth, Human Knot, Hula Hoop, Blinded Maze, Pop-a-shot, Donut eating contest, Tug-a-War, along with local and state organization informational booths.
