The city’s fire stations will be handing out treats to children from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Halloween.
Following are a few safety tips.
Carve pumpkins on stable, flat surface
Children should draw a face on the outside of the pumpkin and let parents do the cutting
Place lighted pumpkins away from curtains and other flammable objects
Do not leave lighted pumpkins unattended
Go only to well-lit houses and remain on porches
Travel in small groups accompanied by an adult
Attach name and address to costumes
Bring treats home before eating them so parents can inspect them
Use flashlights, stay on sidewalks and avoid crossing yards
Cross streets at the corner, use crosswalks and do not cross between parked cars
Watch for children in the street and on medians
Exit driveways and alleyways carefully
